Competition Standards
What are the competition standards for a UDEF sanctioned event?
What are the competition standards for a UDEF sanctioned event?
What are the venue requirements for UDEF sanctioned event?
How do I inquire about organizing an event?
1. The competitions at an event that are to be sanctioned by UDEF shall be breaking competitions, which include judging, subject to the judging criteria and guidelines outlined below, and include a DJ or band playing breaks music, or recorded breaks music.
For the avoidance of doubt, these requirements do not apply to any non-sanctioned competitions at an event in which one or more UDEF-sanctioned competitions may be hosted.
2. Judging Criteria for Competitions:
a) At least three judges must be used for any judged competition to be sanctioned by UDEF, all of whom must have had a competitive breaking and judging background.
b) The Event Organizer may not be a judge for any UDEF-sanctioned competition at the Event Organizer’s own event.
c) No member of the Event Organizer’s crew may be a judge at the Event Organizer’s event for a Champions Series or Challenger Series level event on the Pro Breaking Tour.
d) In all cases, the Event Organizer must use best efforts to hire judges free of conflicts of interest, and will recuse judges from voting in circumstances in which a crew conflict exists.
3. The competition flooring must be clean, safe, dry and at least five feet away from any un-padded barriers, columns or walls.
4. After the preliminary rounds or showcase, the judges, organizer and UDEF representatives must seed the then-remaining competitors for any UDEF-sanctioned competition.
5. Competitors in UDEF-sanctioned competitions must be UDEF members, who are currently registered with UDEF as Competitors. (This requirement does not apply to non-sanctioned competitions at an event in which one or more UDEF-sanctioned competitions may be hosted.)
6. The Event Organizer must purchase or otherwise obtain insurance coverage for the event, naming UDEF and affiliates as additional named insured, and must indemnify UDEF and affiliates.
7. The Event Organizer must agree to comply with and abide by the limitations upon digital rights assignment set forth in the UDEF Competitor Agreement protecting Competitors and share digital rights to the event into perpetuity with UDEF and affiliates.
8. For each event involving a UDEF-sanctioned competition, the event’s marketing materials and social media must acknowledge UDEF’s sanctioning of the applicable competitions at the event, referencing the following: Sanctioned By UDEF
9. UDEF may also endorse, organize, sanction, or otherwise support events, performances or workshops that are independent of competitions, and in such case, judges are not required, and music is not restricted to breaks music.
