Temple Rock Vol. 3, presented by the Pro Breaking Tour and sanctioned by UDEF, took place on Saturday, December 3rd, 2016 at Fuego Nightclub in Orlando, FL. This Pro Breaking Tour Challenger Series Event featured a 2-v-2 open breaking battle & a Bgirl 7-to-Smoke battle, plus a live performance by Fusik, awarding a total of $7,975 in cash prize money.

Freestyle Session World Finals (2016) – Event Recap

Freestyle Session World Finals 2016

The Freestyle Session World Finals ’16 took place on November 12th and 13th, 2016 at the La Boom Nightclub in Huntington Park, California as part of the 2016 Pro Breaking Tour’s Champions Series.  The event was organized by Cros1 in conjunction with Grassroots Productions and paid $60,000 in cash and prizes, with the 1-on-1 winner earning a spot in this year’s Undisputed battle in Prague, Czech Republic in January 2017.  A panel of five judged the Open 1-on-1 Undisputed Battle, and Open 3-on-3 Crew Battle and Bgirl 1-v-1 Battle.  There was a Hip Hop Swap Meet and MC Showcase. There were special performances by Dag Savage, Johaz & Exile, Dirty Science – LA, DJ Manwell & The Father of Hip Hop DJ Kool Herc.  The event was hosted by Cros1 along with Ivan the Urban Action Figure and Tone Anderson.  The DJs for the battles were Lean Rock, Skeme Richards, Element, Abel, Renegade, Bles One, Charlie Rock, Fleg, Ervin Arana, Smirnoff, Kidriz, Casey Masem and Mark Luv.

  • Open 1-on-1 Prize Distribution: $18,300 Cash + Trip to Undisputed World Championship (Prague, Czech Republic) event in January.

o   $7,500 for first place + qualification into the Undisputed bboy battle in Prague, Czech Republic in January 2016; $3,500 for second place; $1,250 for each semifinal loser (3rd-4th); $500 for each quarterfinal loser (5th-8th); $200 for each Round of 16 loser (9th-16th); $75 for each Round of 32 loser (17th-32nd).

  • Open 3-on-3 Crew Prize Distribution: $22,050 Cash + 3 Championship Rings + prizes from sponsors

o   $7,500 for first place; $3,750 for second place; $1,500 for each semifinal loser (3rd-4th); $750 for each quarterfinal loser (5th-8th); $300 for each Round of 16 loser (9th-16th); $150 for each Round of 32 loser (17th-32nd).

  • Bgirl 1-on-1 Prize Distribution: $2,000 Cash + Championship Ring

o   $1,500 for first place; $500 for second place; $250 for each semifinal loser (3rd-4th).  The additional $500 sponsorship for first place was provided by Shaolin Productions.

Freestyle Session has always been a gathering of the worldwide bboy and bgirl community and this year was no different.  There were familiar faces from many scenes, crossing multiple generations, all getting down together with a vibe like no other. BBoys and BGirls showed up from all corners of the globe to compete at this year’s World Finals event all hoping to grab a spot in the top 32 bracket.  With a payout at the top 32 level, all the breakers had incentive to give it their all in hopes to advance and with a steady flow of Monster Energy, the dancers had no trouble bringing their A-game. It was one of the most anticipated events of the year and now that the dust has cleared, we have our champions from the Freestyle Session World Finals, Pro Breaking Tour, Championship Series event.

In the 1-on-1 battle, El Nino took first place over Issei.

In the 3-on-3 battle it was Found Nation who took first place over Polskee Flavour.

In the 1-on-1 Bgirl battle,  Yasmin took first place over Narumi.

There was also a 2-on-2 Hip Hop/House Battle, Kids 2-on-2 Battle, 1-on-1 Popping Battle and 4-on-4 Skillset Performance Competition.

Huge Congrats to all competitors who entered.

The Silverback Open Championships ’16
took place on October 8th and 9th 2016 at the YSC Sports complex outside of Philadelphia as part of the 2016 Pro Breaking Tour’s Champions Series. The event was organized by Silverback Bboy Events and paid $100,000 in cash prize money, plus trips for several winners to the Freestyle Session World Finals in Los Angeles, as well as a trip to compete at Undisputed in Prague, Czech Republic for the 1-on-1 Open winner. A panel of seven judged the 1-on-1 Open, the 3-on-3 Open and the 1-on-1 Bgirl with two alternates in case a judge happened to be in the same crew as a competitor. The preliminary battles expanded the judging panel to five judges for each cypher.

Like all competitions, there can only be one first place winner and the Silverback Open Championships had its well deserving victors in every category. In the 1-on-1 Open battle, Thesis (Knuckleheads Cali) took first place over Issei (Found Nation), in the 3-on-3 Open it was Kuzya / Sunni / Pocket who took first over Super Crew (Ben Stacks, Lil G, Ronnie), and for the Bgirls it was Narumi (Body Carnival) over Bgirl AT (Flomo) in the 1-on-1 Bgirl final.

 

Prize Money Breakdown

 

  • 1-on-1 Open Prize Distribution: $45,500 Cash + Freestyle Session World Final Round Trip Flight + a trip to compete in the Undisputed in Prague, Czech Republic

o $15,000 for first place + round trip flight to Freestyle Session Word Finals (November 12th & 13th; Los Angeles, CA) + a trip to compete in the Undisputed in Prague, Czech Republic; $7,500 for second place + round trip flight to Freestyle Session Word Finals; $2,500 for each semifinal loser (3rd-4th) + round trip flight to Freestyle Session Word Finals; $1,000 for each quarterfinal loser (5th-8th); $500 for each Round of 16 loser (9th-16th); $200 for each Round of 32 loser (17th-32nd); $100 for each top 100 loser (33rd-100th).

 

  • 1-on-1 Bgirl Battle Prize Distribution: $14,000 Cash for the top 8 Bgirl qualifiers (selected from the 1-on-1 Open prelims)

o $5,000 for first place; $2,250 for second place; $1,250 for each semifinal loser; $500 for each quarterfinal loser; $250 for each Round of 16 loser (9th-16th)

 

  • 3-on-3 Open Crew Prize Distribution: $42,000 Cash + 3 Freestyle Session World Final Round Trip Flights

o $12,000 for first place + 3 Round trip flight to Freestyle Session Word Finals (November 12th & 13th; San Diego, CA); $6,000 for second place; $3,000 for each semifinal loser (3rd-4th); $1,200 for each quarterfinal loser (5th-8th); $750 for each Round of 16 loser (9th-16th); $450 for each Round of 32 loser (17th-32nd).
